Many nurses do not think of themselves as leaders; yet, they are making a significant contribution as a professional nurse throughout the various settings within our state.  As part of our mission, AzONL would like to recognize these individuals that through their efforts and leadership are making safe, effective and affordable patient care an achievable reality for our state. 

 

Nominations are Due July 15

Interviews will take place remotely during the months of August and September and then Nominees and Finalists will be notified of their status by October 15.  Finalists will be recognized at the November 2nd AzONL Conference.

Program Purpose

To recognize nurses who are currently leading positive change in patient care, public policy, education and research in the state of Arizona and who are committed to continue providing leadership in the future.  

Program Goals

  • To recognize “formal” and “informal” nurse leaders in a variety of healthcare and other settings.
  • Encourage Nurses to self-identify as a Leader and support their commitment to leadership.
  • Raise awareness of the contributions of Nurse Leaders to the community.

Recognition Categories

  • Emerging Nurse Leader (less than 3 years in first leadership role)
  • Practice Transformation Nurse Leader (Acute Care Setting)
  • Practice Transformation Nurse Leader (Ambulatory/Outpatient/Population-based/Community/Other)
  • Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice Nurse Leader
  • Public Policy Transformation Nurse Leader (Legislation/Advocacy/Public Policy)
  • Education Transformation Nurse Leader
  • Entrepreneur Nurse Leader

Program Benefits

All Nominees will be acknowledged on the AzONE website and Finalists will be featured through the AzONL and partnering organizations’ websites and publications.  Finalists will be publicly recognized at the Adda Alexander Conference on Patient Safety held November 2, 2018 in the Phoenix Metro Area.  Finalists will be provided with a complimentary registration to this program where they will be presented with an award on stage.  A statewide press release template regarding the recognition and recipient will also be provided.

This program is hosted by the Arizona Organization of Nurse Leaders (AzONL). 

 

We are seeking Champions for each of the Recognition Categories.
